                  ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT:

WHAT IS IT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

If you're thinking about a career in environmental planning and management, you should first learn about the discipline. Simply put, environmental planning and management focus on making decisions about the use of natural resources and land. Although it's a growing field, it can be difficult to define because its practitioners come from such diverse disciplines as geography, biology, soil science, archaeology, anthropology, and law. Environmental planners are multidisciplinary specialists who draw upon their vast knowledge of the environment to make informed decisions about how best to utilize land resources.

                                          WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Environmental planning is important because it helps you make good decisions about the environment. When we make good decisions about the environment, we can protect resources, reduce pollution and live more sustainably.
For example, if you’re building a new home and there’s a forest on the land you have to clear, it’s helpful to have an environmental plan so that you can protect as much of the natural habitat as possible (or at least plant some new trees). Similarly, if there are bodies of water in your area (like rivers or lakes), having an environmental plan will keep them clean and safe for people, plants, and animals.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS?

The overarching goal of environmental science is to protect natural resources and improve human health by understanding how ecosystems work. Environmental scientists achieve this goal by studying different ecosystems, and then developing practices that reduce waste and pollution. In addition, environmental scientists will often study the impact of various developments on wildlife and their habitats. Scientists also focus on preserving biodiversity, which is the variety of life in a particular habitat or ecosystem.

THERE ARE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND PROBLEMS.

The biggest challenge in environmental issues and problems is the preservation of our environment.
Different types of environmental issues can be categorized into the following:
  • Environmental pollution
  • Air pollution
  • Water pollution
  • Land pollution
  • Loss of biodiversity
  • Deforestation and loss of natural resources
  • Waste management
  • Overpopulation and unplanned urbanization

                   HOW TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

There are many ways to protect and improve our environment. For example, reduce the usage of electricity, use environmentally-friendly equipment and products, ride a bike or walk instead of driving, and recycle cans and bottles.
Reducing water usage is also a way to protect the environment. We can start by turning off the tap while brushing our teeth or doing the dishes. Another step we can take is to reuse and recycle old things instead of throwing them away. Making our own compost is one of the most effective ways to minimize waste while creating useful fertilizer for plants and trees. In addition, we should plant trees because they filter out harmful substances in the air as well as produce oxygen that humans need to breathe properly
